What is Bio-diesel?
Bio-diesel is chemically nothing but Methyl ester produced from vegetable oils and animal fats and has properties similar to that of petro-diesel. Bio-diesel is a domestic renewable fuel that can be used in all types of diesel engines with small or no modifications to the engine. It is bio-degradable, non-toxic and essentially free of sulphur and aromatic hydrocarbons. Bio-diesel reduces CO2 emissions by 80% and SO2 emissions by 100%1. Bio-diesel is the only alternative transport fuel to have fully completed the health effects testing requirements of the 1990 Clean Air Act amendments.

Is Bio-diesel some kind of Myth-fuel and amI being the Testbed?
No, Bio-diesel is not a myth-fuel, Bio-diesel is a well tested, tried and used fuel. Infact Mr.Rudolf Diesel ran the first demonstration of the Diesel Engine using Peanut Oil (Also a source for bio-diesel). Close to 10% of Germany’s diesel consumption is now replaced by bio-diesel.

Multi-feedstock based Biodiesel Production :
TMN Biofuels produces biodiesel from various feedstock such as Cashew Kernel Rejection Oil, Various grades of waste oils from edible oil refineries, animal tallow…etc. This ensures extreme flexibility to TMN Biofuels in terms of raw material choice and hence gives TMN Biofuels the capability to beat any possible Raw material clut and produce biodiesel extremely cost-effectively.

Strong R&D Background :
Tmn Biofuels has been involved in R&D on biodiesel for more than three years now and hence has a very strong R&D base, this allows biodiesel to research and develop the most optimum process for biodiesel production from various non-conventional raw materials. Tests in various kinds of Engines and TMN’s Recommendation :
TMN Biofuels has successfully tested its biodiesel for more than 7000 hrs in various diesel generators and for more than 7000Kms in various Trucks and heavy vehicles, in addition to this TMN has tested its biodiesel in various heavy duty engines such as JCBs, Dozers and Tippers and also in High Speed engines such as cars. Most of these tests have been done using pure biodiesel B100 and all the engines have responded very positively to TMN’s biodiesel.

Storage and usage of Biodiesel :
The flash point of TMN’s biodiesel is > 120 Deg. C and hence unlike diesel, biodiesel is non- hazardous and there is no requirement of any explosive license for the storage of biodiesel, a sample Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is attached along with this letter. However the shelf life of Biodiesel is lower than diesel since a couple of properties tend to increase with time and hence it is advised to use the stored biodiesel within two months. TMN Biofuels is however working on a few anti-oxidants to increase the shelf life of its biodiesel.

Environmental aspect of Biodiesel :
Biodiesel is environmentally a much superior fuel than diesel. Biodiesel is environmentally superior specifically for two reasons, first biodiesel is a completely renewable fuel since it is produced from oils and oilseeds from plant and animal fats. This means that most of the carbon dioxide emissions during the combustion of biodiesel can be discounted against the Carbon dioxide absorbed by the plants during their growth phase. In addition to this the general carbon and other emissions from combustion of biodiesel are much lesser than those from combustion of diesel. Biodiesel for Electrical Generation :
As the power crisis in California in 2001 unfolded and forced many facilities to deploy portable diesel generators to protect critical operations against blackouts, Southern States Power Company helped the state reduce harmful emissions that normally are associated with this type of equipment. Fueled on 100% bio-diesel (B100), these generators help reduce emissions compared to petroleum diesel in several key areas. Hydrocarbons and sulphur emissions are essentially eliminated with the use of B100. The exhaust emissions of carbon monoxide, a poisonous gas, are about 50% lower in bio-diesel than from petroleum diesel. Particulate matter, is reduced by a third, with the smaller particulates reduced by over two thirds.

The three Cummins generators represent the state of the art in compression ignition engine technology with each having 16 cylinder, 3,673 cubic inch, 2,922 HP Turbocharged/Low Temperature outputting up to two million watts of power at 480 volts. The three generators, operating at full output, were run using bio-diesel.
