Value and Efficiency benefits of using “TMN Biodiesel FO grade” :

  • TMN Biodiesel FO grade is a superior fuel oil for your furnaces, boilers and other Furnace Oil applications. since it has a better viscosity and flow ability characteristics than Furnace Oil supplied by Oil Marketing companies, both at room temperature of 40oC and at a Furnace oil preheated temperature of 100oC. This improved flow ability and lower viscosity results in better atomisation and spray pattern of the fuel by the nozzles or sprayer, and hence the fuel will have a more complete combustion resulting in a higher efficiency of the furnace, boiler or burner. We have estimated that the efficiency of your Furnace oil application will improve due to this improved flow ability and lower viscosity.
  • Furnace Oil supplied by oil marketing companies are generally preheated to a temperature of 100oC to ensure proper flow ability and viscosity of the fuel in the respective furnace oil applications. Our Biodiesel FO grade generally requires very
    minimal preheating and is mostly in soft state. The amount of units wasted every day in preheating the furnace oil= 188 Kwhr. This implies that by using our Biodiesel FO grade you can significantly decrease preheating the fuel and hence save a lot of electric power every day.
  • The calorific value of our Biodiesel FO grade ranges between 9600 – 9800 Kcal/Kg and hence the calorific value of our Biodiesel FO grade is very similar to that of Furnace Oil and this coupled with good flowability translates into higher efficiency of the boiler, Furnace or burner.
  • Our Biodiesel FO grade has almost nil sulphur content as compared to the 3.5% sulphur content of Furnace oil from Oil marketing
    companies. This Sulphur leads to rapid corrosion of the furnace, boiler or burner and severely decreases the efficiency and life of the equipment. The almost nil sulphur content of our Biodiesel FO grade will ensure no further corrosion of the equipment and will lead to increase in efficiency and life of the boiler. This will be a gradual improvement in efficiency and can be as high 15% year on year and hence this efficiency improvement is compounded over the years. On the whole we believe that by using our Biodiesel FO grade, you will improve the efficiency of the boiler which in turn will help you to decrease your costs of operation.

Environmental aspect of Biodiesel FO :
Biodiesel FO is environmentally a much superior fuel than Furnace Oil and has significant benefits from the environmental and pollution control perspective.
  • Furnace oil from Oil marketing companies have as much as 3.5% Sulphur content and hence have very high SO2 emissions. This is very severe pollution and environmental concern since it causes acid rains and other climate anomalies. Our Biodiesel FO grade has almost nil Sulphur content and hence will decrease the SO2 emissions by 100% and will help the customer to keep pollution under control and become an environmentally conscious organisation.
  • High Viscosity of Furnace oil supplied by oil marketing companies leads to improper atomisation and poor combustion efficiency. This results in unburnt fuel escaping through exhaust and hence high particulate matter emissions. Low viscosity of our Biodiesel FO grade will ensure better atomisation of fuel and more complete combustion of the fuel and hence this will significantly decrease the particulate matter emissions.

  • Biodiesel FO being a renewable liquid fuel manufactured from waste vegetable oils will decrease lifecycle CO2 emissions by about 80%.

On a whole this will help our customers to significantly decrease all kinds of harmful emissions, thereby becoming responsible corporate citizens. The net decrease of all lifecycle emissions is estimated to be 100%.

Storage and usage of Biodiesel :
The flash point of TMN’s biodiesel is > 120oC and hence unlike Furnace Oil, our Biodiesel

FO grade is non- hazardous and there is no requirement of any explosive license for the storage of Biodiesel FO grade. However the shelf life of Biodiesel FO grade is lower than Furnace Oil since a couple of properties tend to increase with time and hence it is advised to use the stored biodiesel FO grade within one month. However, using a few anti-oxidants and other additives it is possible to increase the shelf life of Biodiesel FO grade to more than six months.

In case the customer wishes to use our biodiesel FO grade as a blend with Furnace oil, the customer is free to choose the mixing ratio that he/she is comfortable with, for their furnace oil applications. However based on our research we believe that a blend of 80% Biodiesel Furnace oil with 20% Furnace Oil will help the customer to fully exploit the efficiency benefits of our Biodiesel grade as compared to any lower blend levels. If the customer chooses to use our Biodiesel FO grade as a blend with Furnace Oil, please ensure that the Biodiesel FO grade is splashed into the Furnace Oil and they are stirred to mix well enough. However we would like to inform you that the pour point of our Biodiesel FO grade will depend on the raw material feedstock used for producing the Biodiesel FO grade and hence occasionally might require preheating to 50oC in some instances.

Certain aspects of Caution :
TMN Biofuels believes in ethical relationship with its customers and hence we think it is our responsibility to inform you regarding some of the aspects of biodiesel FO grade that you must have some caution. Biodiesel FO grade does possess solvent characteristic and hence while using in Furnace oil applications, Biodiesel tends to dissolve the severe carbon residues left behind by Furnace oil .We are also aware that there are many forms of spurious Furnace Oil traded in the market which leave not only carbon residue but many other forms of sediments and residues in the furnace, pipelines and system. Our Biodiesel FO grade if used along with such spurious Furnace Oils, due to its solvent characteristics can dissolve all these residues and cause filter chokes and nozzle block. The preheating temperature of our Biodiesel FO grade is very important for establishing the operating efficiency, since higher preheating temperatures can cause high flow of fuel and hence build up of pressure and incomplete combustion of fuel. Hence when introducing Biodiesel FO Grade into systems running on conventional Furnace oil, decrease the preheating temperature gradually and when the Biodiesel FO Grade has completely replaced the Furnace oil n the system establish the Preheating temperature at lower temperatures, preferably between 70 Deg C to 75 Deg.C.
